The Super Seventh Grade Readers!
For the first time in the AR history, the 7th graders are the leaders in the Class Challenge competition by earning the most points. So far they have earned over 4528 combined points.

75 fiction and non-fiction titles are added to the Holy Family Collections and are ready for circulation. They are on display in the New Arrivals area in front of the conference room and Mrs. Wellmon’s office. The full list is posted online and outside the library.

Thanks to all who shopped at the Barnes and Noble bookfair. The total sales in those two days came up to $4437.94, which yielded $987.59 in cash profit and donation for the Holy Family Library. In addition, the library also received 36 wish list titles from the supportive shoppers.

The Holy Family Library will host an in store bookfair at the local Barnes & Noble early next month. If you shop at the store during those two days and checkout with a Gorman voucher, the library may earn up to 25% of the total sales*.

The Holy Family Library will host an in store bookfair at Barnes & Noble during the first weekend of February. We will need volunteers (both parents and students) to sit at our display table to represent us and help with the teacher wish list donations. Please contact Chi-Shim Wellmon or Rosie Bellenfant if you would like to schedule to help.

The Tayshas Reading Club is open to enrollment for all high school students. Members who have finished reading 12 books, including at least 7 Tayshas titles* by May 15, 2008 will receive a $20.00 gift card from the Library.

The Holy Family Library has resumed its regular service on September 20. Many thanks to all who have prayed for and waited patiently to use the newly renovated facility! The initial responses from everyone are very positive. Please let us know if you would like to tour the facility or have recommendations to help the library grow. Library Renovation Project
As the Holy Family Library is near completion, Gorman thanks all those individuals, families and benefactors who supported the efforts. Special thanks go to the Friends of the Library Committee for their belief in the library and their visions for the future. Their dedication and hard work not only helped develop the library long range plans but also brought the community together to realize this dream. On behalf of our students and generations of new library patrons to come, please accept our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. We apologize for any convenience due to delay of the library services. The Holy Family Library rededication mass and ceremony will take place September 12, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.

Because of the renovation project scheduled to begin on May 29, all resources are due back to the library on May 7 to be packed up for storage. Special arrangements, however, may be made with Mrs. Wellmon to use library resources for research purposes after May 7. In addition, electronic databases are also available 24/7 on and off campus via the Gorman website.

The library is honored to present Scott Westerfeld and his wife Justine Larbalestier, both successful young adult writers to the Gorman community later this month. They will be sharing their writing experiences with us at an all-school professional forum. Many of their books are included in several state recommended lists. Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies trilogy is very popular among Gorman readers.
