  • 2008 Gorman Duke Scholars Announced: Congratulations to the following Gorman seventh grade students (Class of 2014).  These students have been recognized by the Duke Talent Search Program which identifies academically talented seventh grade students based on achieving 95% or better on standardized test scores.  These students will be recognized after mass on September 24, 2008.  The 2008 Duke Scholars include: Chandler Alt, Audry Bacon, Alex Barclay, Kaleb Behem, Bailey Braquet, Hunter Brown, Cody Cannon, Angela Carney, Melissa Carney, Caitlain Cashell, Patrick Cunningham, Christopher Danly, Courtney Fergerson, Sean Goforth, Tricia Gregory, Luke Haberle, Michal Hillin, Noah Kemp, Sarah Kent, Michelle Lujan, Monica Maloney, Michael McGehee, Thomas McKellar, Hannah Mittica, Kelly O'Neill, Matthew Petre, Emma Pittman, Paul Russell, Luke Ryder, Tristan Saint, Timothy Schmitt, Cole Sharron, Karis Stephen, Margeaux Sullivan, Jamie Michelle Taberna, Amanda Vander Vorste, Luis Vasquez, Kyle Walters, Robert White, Adam Williams.   
  • Picturing America Grant: Gorman has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Picture America program.  The school will recieve forty large prints of famous art masterworks as well as significant curricular resources.  The famous prints can be used in variety of disciplines.
  • HS Pep Rally: This week on Friday at 2:50 p.m. in the Haddad Gym.
  • National Junior Honor Society: 2008/2009 NJHS Officers are Co-Presidents Maddi Stadtmueller and Maddie Behm; Vice-President - Sarah Beck; Secretary - Michelle Obach; Treasurer - Ashton Ihrig.
  • TKG ScoreBoard:
    • TKG MS Volleyball vs. Brook Hill (Monday) - 7th Grade won ( 25-10, (25-22, 25-16);8th Grade lost (18-25, 23-25).
  • Ethics and Integrity Training: The next Diocese of Tyler Ethics and Integrity certification training session will be held on Monday, September 22, at the Cathedral Center from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m..  All parents who volunteer or chaperone school activities are required to attend the session every three years.  Call Terri Bolton at the Cathedral office at 903-592-1617 to register for the session.  There is no charge for the session; however, a $10 fee is collected for a background check.
  • Public Library Speaker: Award winning Latino Author René Saldaña will speak at the Tyler Public Library on September 18 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Saldana's visit is one of a series in the Texas Latino Voices programs to be presented by the Texas Center for the Book during Hispanic Heritage Month 2008. Among his wokrs, Whole Sky Full of Stars and a short story collected in Guys Write for GUYS READ are available in the Holy Family Library.  For more information, please Linda Ayers at 903-593-4357 ext. 2219 or layers@tylertexas.com."
