  • Hurricane Ike: Many thanks especially to the TKG Maintenance and Technology Staff for Hurricane Preparations and Clean-Up:
    • Hurricane Ike Preparations (Friday):
      • Sports: Worked with other schools to ensure student safety by cancelling or moving start times for Friday and Saturday sporting events.
      • Technology: Powered down all campus servers, routers and back-ups to protect equiptment from possible electrical surges.
      • Office: Disconnecred from power sources all major electronic equiptment.
      • Facilities: Prepared exterior facilities for major wind potential.
    • Following Hurricane Ike: TKG staff, including the maintenance staff, the Facilities Director, the Technology Coordinator and the Principal worked yesterday (Sunday) with the following areas to make sure the campus was safe and ready for operations Monday morning:
      • Campus Clean-Up: Major limbs, trash, blown items removed or put back safely.  This included cleaning up some standing water in buildings where a drain was clogged.  No major tree damage on campus.
      • Power-Up: Powered back all servers, routers and power back-up so the electronics were ready for student use Monday.  This included powering back all copiers, printers and other protected electronic equiptment.
      • Evacuee Assistance: As in the case of Hurricanes Rita and Gustav, TKG provided (and is still providing daily) showering facilties for evacuees housed at other sites. (Gorman does not house evacuees during the school year in the interest of student safety).

  • Guatemalan Mission: All students will attend a Professional Forum with Fr. Greg Schaffer on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. in the Milam Joseph Center.  Fr. Schafer, the only American priest recipient of the honored Guatemalan Order of Quetzal, the highest government award for an individual,   will speak on his mission as a priest since 1962 in Guatemala among the Maya people.  Fr. Schaffer's talk is open to the public.

  • TKG Talent Show "TKG's Got Talent": Scheduled for Friday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the Haddad Gym. Concession stand will be open.  Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.
    • HS, Parent, or Teacher Acts: Need to sign up with Mrs. Liles (in choir room or cafeteria) before 4 p.m. September 22, 2008.
    • MS Acts: Need to audition with Mrs. Liles any afternoon until 4:30 p.m. but must have auditioned before September 16, 2008.  The best two or three acts per grade will be selected to perform in the talent show.
