Gorman - Celebrating 50 Years: 1958-2008

Good Morning
Feast of the Birth of the Virgin Mary

"President Ronald Reagan likened the greatness of America to a shining city on a hill.  In Tyler there thrives a home of educational excellence which is a shining school on a hill.  That school is Bishop T. K. Gorman.  On September 2, 1958, I was privileged to be among the first 60+ students to open the school.  On September 2, 2008, I was privileged to participate in the flag ceremony and Mass celebrating the beginning of the 50th Anniversary Jubilee Year.  What a joy to see that those humble beginnings have blossomed into a nationally recognized beacon of learning--and to see that the mission of forming and developing the Christian person morally, intellectually, socially, culturally, and physically has not waivered but has matured in the ensuing five decades.  Congratulations to Bishop T. K. Gorman School and to the entire Tyler Catholic School System.  May God continue to bless you for the next fifty years and beyond."
--Dardine Roedel, Class of 1962
