• Christian Service Opportunity: The Muscular Dystrophy Association is holding their annual Jerry lewis Telethon on  Labor Day weekend.   They are looking for up to 15 phone volunteers to take pledges in each of two time slots on Monday, Sept 1st, in the afternoon (shifts: 2:30pm to 4:05 or 3:30pm to 4:30).  The Telethon will be at KETK Region 56 studios.  The opportunity is open to all students; moreover, student organizations  are asked to consider covering a time slot with 10-15 students.  If you are interested in filling a time slot, please contact Cathy Carney, ccarney@tkgorman.net or (903) 561-2424, by Monday, August 25th, at 1pm.  The positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Fiftieth Anniversary Mass: The opening of Gorman will be celebrated on the2nd of September, fifty years to the day of the opening of the school, with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Corrada at 9:50 a.m. in Haddad Gym.  All are invited to attend.  A special invitation to all Gorman alumni, former students, former staff and parents or grandparents.
• School Pictures: School portraits will be held this Thursday, August 28 during first and second block.  Picture envelopes have been distributed to students and will need to be brought with payment on Thursday.  Extra envelopes will be available on that day.  Regular uniform.
  
• Special Fiftieth Anniversary Mass Intentions: Each graduating class in Gorman's history will be rememebered in a daily mass intention through the year.  A list attached identifies the date each class will be specially remembered in prayer at the mass.

• Fifty Hours of Adoration: As part of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations, parents, students, alumni, guardians, staff and friends of Bishop Gorman School are invited to prayer and participation in Fifty Hours of Adoration in the Gorman Chapel.  Adoration will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday September 2, 2008 and conclude at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008.  Please call or e-mail Beth Scirto to sign up for an hour time slot:  903.561.2424 or bscirto@tkgorman.net.
• Library News: AR program is up and running.  All students are already entered in the system and will be able to take quizes on titles they have recently read.  Sixth grade students will soon meet with Mrs. Wellmon for orientation.  New students are encouraged to see Mrs. Wellmon for more information.
