- Communion Service: This morning at 7:40 a.m. in the Gorman Chapel.
- AP Testing Today: AP Chemistry (a.m.) Faculty and staff can access the attached schedule and rosters of test takers.
- Bridges Day: Today from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: St. Gregory fifth graders and other students are on campus for the morning to better understand Gorman's program. Gorman cheerleaders will be out of class until 9:00 and have permission to wear their uniforms today. Staff can access the attached roster of MS students involved.
- HS Sports Banquet: Today at 6:00 p.m. in the Milam Joseph Center.
- Macy Chenevert Award of Courage: Congratulations to the two eighth graders who are the 2008 recipients of the Macy Chenevert Award of Courage: Cori Jo Navarro and Alvin Estacio.
- HS Letter Jackets: Students who have met the requirements to order a Bishop T.K. Gorman letter jacket are invited to a special presentation by Herff Jones on Thursday, May 15th at 2:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria to go over ordering information. Herf Jones will return on Wednesday, May 21st at 2:30 p.m. to the school cafeteria to receive orders. Parents are encouraged to attend. Students wanting to order additional patches for letter jackets are welcome to attend. Questions about eligibility should be addressed to Mary Schick.
- Holy Family Library New Arrivals: The Holy Family Library has just added over 120 new titles to the book collections. Many of them are award titles from the Tayshas, Newbery, Lonestar and Bluebonnet lists. They are ready for circulation. Please look for them at the New Arrivals Display areas. A comprehensive list of all new titles are posted online and also outside the Library.
- Accelerated Reader Update: Congratulations to 7th grader Noel Gamez for qualifying for the Year-end Six Flags trip. See attachment for other details. Over sixty new AR quizzes added to reading program, including 4 adopted titles. See attachment for details. Coming events:
- 7th grade planetarium show and pizza lunch: May 14 (Wednesday). Permission slips due May 13.
- Final AR Store: May 19 & 20, 2008
- Six Flags Trip: June 6th, 2008
- Movie Release of "Prince Caspian": On Friday May 16th Saint Mary Magdalene Parish youth will be meeting in the parking lot of Carmike Cinema at 6pm for food and drinks and then going to see the 7pm showing of the new movie, Prince Caspian." Parents of guardians who would like for their 6th, 7th, or 8th grader to attend, please email Patrick Richey, Youth Minister at prichey109@yahoo.com. The Church has purchased 30 advanced tickets and the total cost for ticket and the food outside will be $10.
- End of Library Circulation and End of Accelerated Reader Program: Thursday, May 15, 2008.
- Computer Science and Engineering Camp: The University of Texas at Tyler will be offering a residential summer camp for 10-12th graders interested in engineering and computer science this summer. Cost is $299 and some scholarships are available to deserving students that may need financial assistance. This camp provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for young engineers and scientists to design an experiment to collect data from the atmosphere using instruments launched as payloads on high altitude balloons, the same sort used for meteorological purposes. Students will determine the experiment they wish to conduct, determine the required data, and design, assemble and test the instruments needed to collect this information. At a later date, these experiments will actually be conducted during a balloon launch which students may attend. Follow this link for more information and application.
- Summer Job Fair: Workforce Solutions of East Texas is holding a Youth Job Fair on Thursday May 15, 2008 from 4:00-7:00PM at 4100 Troup Highway in Tyler. More than 45 local companies will have representatives on-hand to answer your questions about summer employment opportunities for high school students. Dress for Success. - Volunteers Needed:
- This week for the St. Vincent DePaul Society Garage Sale this coming Saturday. Volunteers are needed all week in preparation and on Saturday to help with the actual Sale. Interested individuals should contact Kelly Jackman at 903.570.1800.
- St. Gregory Catholic School could use help with some help planting ground cover and shrubs in the next week or two. Students could work after school/early evening or on the weekend. Contact Mr. Reuter for more details.
